hey guys is it a myth that AWD is better than 2WD in snow?  and in regards to "handling" is FWD a better choice than RWD?  for some reason I have a feeling this isnt going to be a simple yes or no answer....

ps I'm new here fellas, just wanting to learn all I can about cars and in particular my own car

AWD is the best for snow and good for drag racing from a stop with no need for tire upgrades, handling is usually better in AWD

FWD is next best in the snow but it is not good either.  handling is usually ok and they are better for racing from a rolling start

RWD is the worst in the snow but the best for racing from a Stop (providing you buy some tires that get traction like drag radials or slicks) RWD handling is really good on some cars but really bad on some car as well.  eample the honda S2000 is great handling but the Ford Mustang is not

Here's some questions for you...what is it that you're looking for in a car or a better question, what do you want in a car?  What's your financial goal in buying a car?  What are your plans with it?  Where do you see yourself, with the car, in the future?

well currently I am a medical student with very little math/engineering skills, I would like to learn more about cars in general.  I purchased my Lancer for 8K with only 30K miles on it.  I've had it for a year now and plan to have it for a long time.  I guess what I'm looking for right now in a car is longevity...I just want to learn how I can take good care of my car so that I can keep it for a very long time. I have flirted with the idea of putting in a super charger or maybe downpiping and blowoff valve type of stuff and maybe even a good looking non cheesy looking body kit...
