Timing belt

What things should I keep in mind when I do this. What are good things to replace when I am in there. What is the balancing shaft and should I take it out. Is there a kit if I do take it out? Where can I find what I am lookin for?

go to extremepsi.com and you will find a BS remover kit or Balance shaft remover kit. make sure you have a repair manual if you want things to go smoothly, haynes is what i use. replace the water pump for sure, tensioner and all other timing relatied pulles are a good idea 2. if you have time to wait, you can check with slowboyracing.com as a last case scenario

what does the balancing shift do any ways?

what kind of gains am I looking at and what are the downfalls?

Are they alot of work to take out, asking because I have to order it online and I dont want something that I'm going to take forever with or am going to regret installing.

Has anyone else done this: Comments needed

all a balance shaft does is help balance the crank and reduce vibration. No big deal. Its just another moving part and another belt that can break. my new motor has it taken out

ok is it hard to remove if I am already in there for the timeing belt? And there is no noticable difference in the way the car feels while driving and idling

All your doing is removing rotational weight and yes some have felt minimal vibration at higher rpms. Go to vfaq for additional details on how to do both projects. FYI, some sites would have been all over your azz for not using the search function first

well here were not like tuners. yes it should be used but we wont ban for not being used. i have them taken out on my motor. well i am urrently doing so, i can take pics if you need a visual.

93eclipsegsx, I noticed that; which is actually cool. That's why I've been spending a lot of time on this site; contributing back to the community. Hey, we all have to start somewhere.

As for the BS bearing removal. You can use your balance shaft to pop the bearing out. If you're careful enough you can reuse the bearing; just make sure to rotate it so that the hole is plugged. You don't need to remove the rear bearing.

tx2u, we try and keep this a freindly community. Every now and again there is bickering that goes on, but thats gonna happen no matter what. But we try and answer every question cuz like you said, everyone has to start somewhere, and we all remmeber being that person that didnt know much. Unless someone just starts a thread saying "what is crankwalk", then it gets the big "DO A SEARCH" answer
