I always hear/read about mirage owners buying cat back systems, and i cannot seem to find it. I want to buy a new muffler, but having to weld it sways me away from it. Buying a new exhaust system will take that fear away since it will come with a nice muffler and what not. Maybe they are out there and just not searching the right thing. Anybody know the proper term for cat back system? And if someone can provide a link that would be great!

well virtually ne muffler shop that deals with aftermarket exhaust prolly does cat-backs.  I had my exhaust done at a shop called VELASQUEZ AND SONS (MUFFLERS 4 LESS)  see if there is one in ur area.  Mine only cost me $180.00  http://www.velasquezandsons.com/

o btw, did it cost you 180 for labor and piping? Or did they also get you a newer muffler that gives more torque and a deeper sound.

Just about any shop will do the work, all that's required is unbolting the factory exhaust, bending some new pipe and welding the new muffler on. presto, cat-back exhaust. $180 sounds a little cheap, at least in my area you'd be looking around $280-320 for a quality system. HP Racing and Aerospeed used to make exhuast components for the 5th gen Mirage, but they don't anymore. Your best bet is trying to find a shop to do it.

i have a whole system for $180 bigger pipe and brand new muffler, velasquez and sons is cheap, if there around u, go to them.  My car is very loud.  My friend spent 300 and his isn't nearly as loud as mine.  I get some pics of it soon, I'll take them when I do my brakes, i'll get pics of the pipe and everything.

just for kicks, who here actually knows why its called a cat-back exhuast system?  well incase u don't know I'll tell u.  It is called that because u replace everything from the catylitic converter on back. (cat-back)
