Hi everyone...new member here.
I have a 2000 Montero Sport with a 3.5L. Last week a "HOLD" message was and still is displayed on my instrument panel...just below the gear selection display. The first thing I thought of was to check the coolant reservoir, which was empty. I topped it off and after a few driving cycles, checked the level in the radiator and the bottle...all is fine. Except the light is still on. I consulted my 3 volume owner's manual and can't seem to find any info on a "HOLD" display. The vehicle has and still does run great. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Steve

Since you mention the gear selection display, that must mean you nave an automatic. Look for a switch that says "Auto Trans" or "A/T Mode" on the center console. Mine has that and while the center position is "Off", the other two are "Hold" and "Power". The Hold position tells the TCM to delay shifting, for pulling a trailer, etc. and the Power mode gives you crisper, quicker shifts.

HTH,
Mark
