Where do I put transmission fluid?

My friend owns a 1997 mitsubishi galant ( automatic ). We're both unfamiliar with cars and have no clue where to pour the transmission fluid and have lost the owner's manual. Can anyone help with the location? Thanks in advance

Find the trans. dip stick under the hood then pull it out and pour the fluid in that hole.

thats the thing i can't find...i found the oil dip stick but i can't find the tranny dipstick

If I remember correctly, the transmission dip stick is to the left (driver) side of the engine. Just use a flashlight and keep looking and eventually you'll find it. If you pull out a dipstick with cherry-red or reddish brown fluid on the tip, that would be it.

if its a 4 cylinder...then assuming its the same tranny set up as the 3g eclipse it should be on the drivers side.
