'00 Galant ES 2.4L auto, 94K miles, bought last week.

I noticed this Galant has more engine drag going downhill than any other vehicle I've ever owned and driven (Camry, Corolla, Protege, and a number of vans and trucks at work). If I take my foot off the gas pedal, it would go no more than 20 mph on a short mild slope, whereas my other vehicle (Mazda Protege) would be at least 5 mph faster on the same slope.
I double checked to make sure it was at D gear. 3/2/L would give it even more engine drag.

I just want to know if this is common among '00 Galants, or if that's something I should be concerned about.

Thanks in advance.

the trans is actually suppost to downshift by itself during an extended downhill pace.. the trans realizes you're going downhill, and shifts down for added engine braking.
