Our '97 Montero SR read door can't be opened. Seems like this has happen once before, but it corrected itself. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance.

Seen this before at my dealership. You have a broken rear door latch and the interior panel on the inside will have to removed somehow. We have had to forecfully had to remove them here at the dealership. But that is your decision.

The same thing just happened to my 2001 Montero. The latch is stuck. If I turn the key back and forth in the lock and jiggle the handle at the same time, I can eventually get the door open. I'm hoping it just needs to be lubricated. Has anyone tried this? Are there some holes for lubrication, or do I have to take the rear door apart?

I also have a 97 Montero SR and I have had this problem many a times. I have experienced this when I go on bumpy roads. All I do is just lock and unlock a few times and it corrects itself. That is the only way I have found to fix it but it works so I really don't worry about it too much though.
