Here´s a tricky one: a loud squeling when the car is started in cold weather. The colder the longer the squeal.
So far I´ve tried:
1. New fan belts
2. New water pump
3. Changed oil of power steering

how cold we talkin bout here? what engine oil weight you using? try a thinner weight, thats all i can think of.

Around and below freezing. The oil is fully synthetic 5w-40.
A friend driving a Galant with the same oil have no problem. The squealing comes from "outside" the engine
By the way, it´s a -95 and the engine is a 4G63 16v SOHC

Check your pulleys and make sure your belts are on there nice and tight. It sounds like belt squeal to me.

I will check the tension again, but could it be something with the pulleys - is there a way to lubricate the bearings without dismantling everything. By the way...the belts are aftermarket parts, not original mitsubishi parts. They look and feel like the originals, but "only real butter tastes like real butter"

There is no way to really lube the bearings without removing things. You can, as a TEMPORARY test, carefully spray WD-40 on the power steering pulley...carefully as to not get any on the belt. The power steering and alternator pulleys are the usual suspects in a perfectly running motor on a cold day. Do one pulley at a time, so it will be an easier troubleshooting process....or you can have someone crank it over in the morning and really listen for where the squeal is coming from.

I´ll give it a try. It souds as if it´s coming from the "upper regions". The sound is really awful...like a hyena getting his "jewels" jammed i n something. By the way...nice job you´ve done with the ride. How much time have you spent and how much rebuilding have you done to the engine? The cars from the 90´s still look like cars - the modern ones look like an appliance brought out of an italian designers bathroom...
