tires is the name of the game when you want the best times at the track, i suggest micky tompson drag radials, not full slicks. They grip to hard and doesn't let torque be converted smoothly. It also puts  major stress on your tranny, plus most full slicks need to get hot, and unless you have the power to burn out all four, then get d.r.

What drag strip is near you?

New England Dragway  in eppin NH.  problem for me is I have no trailor and its about a 100mile drive so I dont want to beat the car to hard so I dont need to call a tow truck and foot that bill.

I have heard alot og great things about the BFG comp t\A drags.  I actually have a set sitting around but they are 235\60\15s I think and I only got 2 and they have cragar 15x8s I want to say.  Oh well I gotta to sell those for some cash at this point anyway

oh i see, i know the mickey tompson go for about 160 per tire, for the 235/45 17's. If you want top of the line, go with the hoosiers, that's what i have on the vette. but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. what i suggest you do for the transportation is buy one of those cheap trailer flat beds, and attack it to a truck, or a car that can handle the load. and save yourself some cash. I dont know how it is up there, but down here in miami, tow trucks are expensive.
If you buy the bed, you figure you have a sure way of getting to the track for furture trips

or another solution is to buy a gold membership for about $150-200 a year and then you get 4 tows per year for up to 100 miles per tow. Then your all set.

Emonz and ComposeEvo, this was my second run in my Evo IX at the track and my 60ft time sucked; it was 1.94.  I also didn't get into second gear as fast as I could've.  When I passed the lights and picked up my slip I was still amazed my car run such a good time with the faulty interface between the chair and the steering wheel.  I'm going to head back to the track on April 07, 2007 and run for the last time.  After that I'm going to start road racing at Button Willow and the California Speedway.  Evo's are pretty good at the quarter mile but they really shine on the road courses from what I hear.  I'll just have to buy an extra set of tires every road race.

I don't take anything you guys said about my drag racing skills personally.  It's tough first time at the track; especially with your adrenaline pumping and people watching in the stands!!  As you all know it takes time to get drag racing down; even then you screw up.

My boost is 19psi in 1st and 2nd gear...in 3rd, 4th, and 5th I stay at 22psi.

yea so with a little better 60 ft youll be looking at low 12s easily.   If you want to road race id would try to save for some coilovers and get a nice setup for it

no sweat extreme, i didn't mean anything harmful at all. I'm glad you didn't find it offensive. because those were not my intentions. I'm sure real soon youll be able to cut that time to high 11's or low 12s. good luck with autocross. that's alot of fun.
