Seeing as I started this thread, I should mention that when I purchased my 2005 XLS the dealer assured me that ALL Outlanders had heated mirrors, so when I found out mine never, I went back to the dealer and complained. The dealer did later confirm that for whatever reason the XLS was not equipped with them, and agreed to install them for me, which has now been done. Living in Winnipeg Canada this was must for me, I don't know how long it took for the install as I has other work done under warranty. Brian

ORIGINAL: antlip When we got the snow ice storm deal a couple weeks ago I let my car warm up for 10 mins and drove to work 10 mins. The ice on the side mirrors didnt melt one bit. There is no way they are wired up with heaters. Not unless they run off like .01 volts and take 30 hours to warm up. I guess the XLS is just prewired for the heated mirrors, complete with fuse and wires, and all you needed was the actual mirror with heating elements to be installed. IMO, the fuse and the wires are just there to lessen the hassle of "digging in" when wiring the heated mirrors. Unless someone confirms the current NA Outlander XLSs have actual heated mirrors on them.

If your mirror heaters aren't working, get the dealer to check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 on the mirror connector. Should be 7.2 +- 1.4 ohms at 77 degrees F. If they are out of spec, get them replaced under warranty.
