We had an alarm system installed on our 98 Eclipse and now it makes a loud grinding  noise on both sides when it is unlocked or the car is shut off.  We unhooked the alarm and it still makes the noise when the locks are unlocked.  We are wondering if it is the actuators or if there is a control box that could be causing the noise.  If anybody has any suggestions on what to try to diagnose this problem we would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks

more than likely it's the actuators that are making the grinding sound, how long does it do it for.  my stock ones go for like a second, and it's done. do yours do that?

I'm wondering the same as Dave.
IMO, take the door panel off and activate the locks and find out.
