hello

my co worker  has a 02 Eclipse, V6 auto... and a very bad wheel bearing.  He just brought it to a VIP to have is changed. They called and mentioned that the axle was rusted to the bearing and they might break the axle...  How hard is it to change out the bearing?

Thanks

I had the same issue when i brought mine in. If its that rusted it seriously is easier to just replace the axle too. When i did mine they couldnt get the bearing off so they replaced the axle, then they couldnt get the ABS sensor off the axle, another thing replaced. If they cant get it off then i dont think you will be able to.

Cant say as I have ever heard of that happening, but then again im not saying its impossible.
I am going to agree with the engineer here. I would deffiniatly replace the axle too. what are you lookin at 80 bucks plus labor. so say 160 bucks for the new axle, that aint that bad. and you know what they say about piece of mind

if you have acess to a wheel puller it's very easy to break the rust between the wheel bearing and axle. i did it to mine last week. it only took about 10 min to do once i got the puller on
