hi guys, i'm a newbie and am really looking into getting an evo. My friend has an sti and brags all day how evos cant handle them.  i went to the dealer ship yesterday and found an 05 for 24k with 11k miles on it. i was wondering if that was a good deal? and what i could do to make it go faster? maybe hit 12's or 11s? how much money will it take me? and any impressive stories of people reaching that with stock turbo? or is the turbo upgrade really needded?

forgive my ignorance, im curious to know cuz im buying the evo within the next week probilly.

thanks

2005 makes it an EVO 9????? If it is a 9, you can make alot of power for a little money. Turbo upgrade is not necessary, the car is plenty fast. So its not something you need it will be something you want. You  may also want a larger rear view mirror too so you can see your friend with the Suby LOLOLOL.

if it is an 05 it is a VIII not an IX.  regaurdless the stock turbo can run you into the mid 11s if you buy a bunch of other stuff.  you can get 12s very very easy with that car.  I got like $900 in mods and I should run around a 12.6 or so.   TRUST me when I tell you the Evo is much better than the STi.  I wanted an STi is the worst way before I got hte Evo.  but all it took was a test drive of the Evo and I was sold.   Not to mention the Evo motor is alot more reliable and can make more power on the stock bottom end,  and the Evo has much better handling.  Im sure if you say this to your buddy he will argue but I know for a fact I did all the reseach before I bought one or the other.  not to mention the Evo is 100000x easier to work on

here is a right up i did on how to get your Evo VIII to run 12s http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_62135/tm.htm  and here is a Basic mod guide I made for the Evo http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_102786/tm.htm

purchase the evolution. It's very simple to make it go faster with little money. You cant go wrong with that car.
