So I noticed today my dash has a small raised plastic bubble panel right in the middle near the windshield.  I have seen this previously on Honda and Ford vehicles and is normally a light sensor for auto-on headlight systems.  I haven't seen this as an option on the Canadian Outlanders but perhaps one of our US brethren can shed some light?  (so to speak)

it should be a photo sensor for the auto climate control, if you have the auto climate control.

thats what it is, it tells the hvac system when to switch over to defrost mode, You have to have your blower location system set to "auto" for it to work
