So i desided instead of paying like 100$ to 150$ for those grill fillers on my eclipse; I am just going out to home depot and get some grating. Then cut it and paint it. I made the templates today. Has anyone else done anything like this that might have some segestions or tips?

i used to actually make them for cars and sell them on ebay. They work fine. Also lowes sells large sheets of them which i switched to since it was alot easier because they werent bent like the grates at home depot. Cutting is a killer on the hands though

This is for TheEngineer I am glad I read this post, I have a question how do you attach them after they are cut. I was going to order one until I heard you could just get the stuff from home depot. Do you have to take off bumper/ I have 03 so all I need is the one piece in the front.

well the 03 is alittle bit of a pain because you have more of a rounded opening than the 00-02 which is just a rectangle. But the best way to cut it would be to leave small tabs extra over what it takes to fill the hole. You know what i mean. Maybe like 3 on top and 3 on bottom. Then fold each tab over and drill small holes into the bumper. Then just use a small bolt, washer and nut and fasten it to it. Thats the best way to do it. The other alternative is a clear glue, but that looks like **** when its done. Just take your time measuring and cutting to get the size exactly right. Like i said though the 03+ is alittle tougher. Good luck

yeah thats what i was going to do. I was going to leave little tabs around the outside and then attach it with self tapping screws and washers.
