It's not really a need but more a "want". It can never be a substitute to turning your head and look. It just add another safety feature for you to see what's beneath your vehicles rear way below the line of sight. And while we're at it, let's do it in style and have the signal displayed on the screen, wouldn't that be nice. Now only if mitsu offered original parts, this wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Its cool and as I noted in another post, at first I thought it was a gimmick, then I got used to it in our 06 Odyssey, now I find myself constantly glancing to the Nav Screen when I back up, but alas, it is not there....

I was just making a joke. Has anyone did research on the pioneer back up cameras. Since they have some made just for indash dvd player screens?

Or it could be your dog, cat, and worst, kids. I've heard horror stories about it, and I personally ran over my puppy a few years back. I'm glad the poor thing didn't die, and just suffered leg fractures. Although I would agree the Outlander has a bigger field of view compared to my wife's 03 CR-V, but still, there's a good amount of space below the rear glass we can't see. But well, I haven't really "wanted" it but just the thought of adding it is nice, since that
could be possible.

First...the only reason I hooked one up is because I already had one from my old Navi. The Pioneer unit is great and you should be able to find one at a great price. Getting it put in is another story...$$
Here's one on EBay...
