Is an aftermarket warrantee worth the money?  If so any recommendations on a good company?

Thanks,

Billy

I bought the extended warranty when I got my 99, and so far its covered a battery and alternator, and a new tranny, so its  been worth it.

[/quote] 60k service is one of the more expensive ones and most important,  the timing belt NEEDs to be done.  It will last most of the time till 100k or a little more but if you chance it your looking at a $2500 fix if not more.  id call your local mitsu dealer (if the car is not there) and ask.  The price I agree is slightly high. depending on the year and type of tranny it has.  if the car is an 03 id pay around $10k for it or try at least.  if it has a sporty (auto stick) it will be slightly more for that reason.

Hey guys, think we will go for the car, how much does that timing belt tune up cost?  I'll try to get him down a little more for at least that amount.  This is what they are going for here in NY.  The tri-state area is $$pensive.

Thanks,

Billy

Depends on how its done.
Done by you, just parts... probally $200 bucks for belt and pulleys.
By a shop, parts plus labor.... maybe $500 more or less i dont know.

Thanks that is what I figured.  Called the dealer up, he won't budge on the price so we are getting it for 12k, which is a little more than I thought.  With my wife this can change at any time.  I know shes planning on taking a ride up there tomorrow with her mother, you never know she might pick out something else but I'm hoping she sticks with the Eclipse. Fun car to drive!
