The Chilton manual implies that you have to take the transmission out of the 90 Montero before you can pull the 3.0 liter V6. That seems excessively labor intensive to me. I have pulled domestic engines without pulling the tranny. Question: Can you pull the engine with out all the extra work associated with pulling te drive line?

Not sure w/ the 90 but I suspect so. I pulled the engine on a 95SR and it was far easier to pull w/ the tranny than w/out the tranny. Re-installing it and getting the tranny and engine to mate underneath the body was very difficult and an excercise in frustration.
