Could anyone tell me what I would have  to do in order to achieve 400 bhp in my evo IX without performing mods to the inside of my engine(internals)?

you internals are good to over 500hp, so you dont have to worry about that. But im not totally sure what it takes with the IX. I know its definetly gonna require a turbo upgrade and some good tuning

John your a newb.   the IX does not need a turbo upgrade they make 400 Wheel HP easy all the time so 400BHP would be even easier.

Youll need these mod to get there or a little higher.
Turboback exhaust
MBC
cams
reflash
FMIC upgrade

He doesnt want to change internals though so cams would be out.

since when are cams considered internals?  cams are and easy mod to do you dont take anything out beside the valve cover

I consider anything that involves taking parts of the motor off to get to an internal. If you have to take off the valve cover and go inside of the head then I would consider that interals. Our views on this might be different.

Internals are generally known to be crank pistons rods, anything inside the block.   head not included.  If I were to say head studs that is a little more understandable because you need to pull the entire head off, but cams are not that involved or expensive for the power gain you get out of it

If u were to combine a manual boost controller , aem ECM, blow off valve, exhaust manifold, downpipe, and intake what do you think the horsepower to the flywheel would be on average? Also, what is the size of the exhaust pipe on a evo IX in inches dia.? Is their really a need to increase the size of the exhaust while keeping the stock turbo setup?

Emonz, out of curiousity, where have you seen or heard of 400whp on an Evo IX with a stock turbo upgrade.  From what I've read the max that can be made is 375whp.  Please show me and Evo IX that achieved this because I would be very interested as I'm looking for 400whp on my Evo IX.
