Emonz, out of curiousity, where have you seen or heard of 400whp on an Evo IX with a stock turbo upgrade.  From what I've read the max that can be made is 375whp.  Please show me and Evo IX that achieved this because I would be very interested as I'm looking for 400whp on my Evo IX.
The VIIIs have ht low low 400s on the stock turbo but very rare,  the IXs can do it with a little more ease.  I find some and post them later

400BHP (which is what he was asking for in this thread) with only a vinshu flash and exhaust.   so add cams and some other bolt ons and 400 to the ground is there.  Xtreme your prob.  close to that yourself

ECM, electronic control module, but I guess it is also called a EMS(engine management system) I would probably go this route rather than a reflash. Also, what DO YOU THINK would be the horsepower at the flywheel with the mods I listed earlier.

If I were to send my ECU in to get reflashed what percautions should I take? Is this something a beginner could do?

you dont flash it a company will.  so the only thing you need is to tell them the mods you have currently.  If you got the $$$$ for the EMS go with it as HP will be far superior to the stock ECU as long as you have a pro tune it.

i think the mods you listed before are enough to get you in the 370WHP range which would be around the 400BHP

He doesnt want to change internals though so cams would be out.
since when are cams considered internals?  cams are and easy mod to do you dont take anything out beside the valve cover

Umm...since always??

Cams are engine internals, whether you think they are or not.  The ability to access them has nothing to do with it.  You seem to be making things up as you go.

So basically you're saying the car is going to gain 140WHP from a ECU tune and an exhaust??

The part about "upping the boost by a **** of a lot" should be included in that description.  With stock boost levels you're not going to see anything close to those kinds of gains from an ECU tune and TBE.

And who are you?   Do some research.  You understand a foctory Evo tune is pig rich and runs a AFR of 9.7 right?  so with a tune you lean out to around an 11.1 that alone on a VIII will gain 40HP to the ground so to the crank you looking at quit a bit more.  add in the fact a flash also controls timing and boost and toss on an exhaust with the tune you will most sertainly be around 400 crank HP on an Evo IX. Dont know where the hell you got 140HP from?  stock IX is 286BHP so you talking about 110BHP added.   and nothing I said was made up I even posted a link and do you think I wrote that write up on it?? NO so STFU
Oh and cams call em what you want they are still only a bolt on mod.  and doesnt you to require to pull the motor out nor does it take long or cost alot to do.

Jus t because you dont know how to pull a valve cover off doesnt mean it is "engine internal"  not to mention the EVO uses something cool called OVER HEAD CAMS so yea they are right in front of you when you pop the hood  but why would you know that.   I bet you dont even know what a cam looks like but youll come back and act all hardcore like your NOT jelious of us.   I would be jelious too we got better looking cars that can beat you straight and destroy you in corners.  it does suck owning and Evo and laughing at v8 owners who think they actually have a car fast enough to beat me when in reality they have a nice fast 14 sec mustang
