Chrome Interior Door Handles

biscuit -> Chrome Interior Door Handles (4/13/2007 9:10:31 PM)

I really like most of the interior on my 07 Outlander, but basically there is too much of the same color plastic on the door panels for my taste. So, after spotting chrome handles in some of the photos from Japan and Europe, I set out to upgrade my door panels.

Easy solution, pick up chrome handles from the Lancer GTS. You'll need 2 left side and 2 right side handles, see the part numbers in the photo. The dealer list price is $63 each (x4), but you can probably get them at a discount. They bolt right in, as shown in the photos.

To me they look and feel much better than the monotone plastic handles.

Match the end of the threads to the end of the plastic:

Finished! You can also use the beige door locks if you want, they pop in and out. I think it looks better with the black.

Biscuit you are the man. I want mine silver, matching the rest of the silver trim.
Do you think is can be done?

In my opinion, it would look better if you could re-use the beige lock knob.

Thanks biscuit. I'm definitely adding this to my to do list. That chrome is gonna look killer with the black interior.
After removing the screws, how difficult was it popping out the door panel?

I tried painting my stock ones silver originally, it didn't look very good. Matching the color/shine/speckle of the silver is not easy.

You can re-use the beige knob. It snaps in and out fairly easily. I tried it but I thought the black looked better.

The door panels snap off easily. Excellent design by Mitsubishi.

I wonder if you could use the 'scotch brite' trick on the new chrome to match the existing brushed look...  I would hate to ruin the new handles, but for me I would rather match than have some random chrome.  But a very nice write up, it has been bookmarket for later reference [:)]
