My car has a problem I have yet to figure out. It keeps running rich and the check engine light is staying on. I have did some research and some say that the ecu is bad to go out in those cars but I also read some of the symptoms of MAF failure. It also has a hard time idling and starting. You can smell all kinds of raw gas and it is using more gas than it is supposted to. Which one do yall think it could be? PLEASE HELP ME

The car has acted like this ever since I got it. I rebuilt the engine about a month ago and it hasnt changed any. I did a test and it was saying like the barometric and the intake air temp. That is the reason that I think it could possibly the MAF. I also read that the ECUs are bad to go out on these cars especially at high temps. This car was in Arizona for a couple of years before they drove it back. This car has also been sitting for about four years.

Oh yeah it is a 93 eclipse GS. The damn thing has no power and will not go over 3800-3900 rpms. It just seems like it cuts itself out when you get it that high.

well, if you bought the car used, it could have a different computer in it. i have a 90 tsi awd that had a 92 ecu in it. my car had a rough idle, and was always runniing rich as well untill it was tuned. probably not it but just borrow a friends gs maf (must match your gs and the year) and test it to see if it fixes the problem
