I know there is currently a guy trying to convert his 3G to AWD, but he is using the rear cross member of a 2G and the transmission from a Lancer with the rear torque converter.  Would it be possible to just swap the 2G GSX  Manual Tranny and rear cross member? As far as the engine swap, I know the 3.5 L Diamonte engine can be put in our 3G but they say the DOHC model can't fit in our engine bay, and I'd just like to know how much extra room we'd need in our engine bay and in what areas to make this engine fit.  Like do the heads cause a problem with not fitting between the firewall and radiator or is the engine too wide or what?  Somebody please fill me in  I'm getting all mad scientist over here ( I don't have the money for it , but please just humor me without being stupid and telling me the obvious that it'd be exspensive or I need lots of $$$ to do it....)

I think the heads dont have room between the fire wall and radiator.   Also the GSX tranny wont work cause it is mounted on the opposite side of the engine than the stock 3G tranny.

So how much more room would you need to squeeze this motor into the engine bay between the firewall and radiator. Now I see why the guy is using the lancer tranny and torque converter. Please answer the room question with actual numbers/measurements. thanks

Anybody got any measurements on the DOHC that won't fit in our 3G engine bay? Cause I want to know how much extra room you'd need to make it fit, cause I can cut the firewall in parts and expand that, and get a slim radiator.
