ok i just did some quick research on this, and it is by no means a direct swap. There are many things that must be modified in order to do it. This was just part of the list quote:
- Block from Cloud cars: Stratus, Cirrus, Sebring,(years?) - Remove balance shafts, plug oil holes - Rotate cam sensor 90*(advanced or retard?) - rewire the injectors moving 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-1. - must swap wires 1 and 3 running to coil. - modified pt cruiser p/s bracket - custom passanger side motor mount - Moddified Oil Pan (2001 Dodge Stratus oil pan works well?) - custom downpipe - Time head like 2.0 - Can use SRT4 pistons and rods for a boost capable engine Then there was also stuff on the oil pump and belt system from an srt-4. This is once again by no means an easy direct swap

Ooops, apparently this is off topic....reading back to page two that is. My bad. Most Chrysler motors do use the same trannys. My old A604/41TE/Ultradrive on my 6g73 is used on the 420a also, with slight differences. quote:
There are 4 different types of units. The differences between the types are the bell housing bolt pattern and valve body assemblies. The first type was used for the 2.5 L engine, second type for the 6G72 V6, third type for the 3.3 L and 3.8 L V6s and the fourth type for the 2.0 L and 2.4 L engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultradrive quote:
ORIGINAL: Clipse1 Yea but the GS is just a little 2.0 so if shes gonna dropp in a new engine might aswell go with a 2.4 The problem with this is deck height considerations. You can't "just" drop in a motor without a certain amount of modifications...even a drop in. What I've found out about DCX is that they use different variations of the same motor/tranny, no matter who it made it. They make it "their own". Like the 6g72/6g73s for example. Almost as if they design the motor around the car and not the car around the motor. Blah, anyway... quote:
ORIGINAL: Sebba The 2.4 on the GSX is actually the stock engine just bored out. Can you provide a source on the internet that backs that up? This is where a 4g64 block is swapped in. I've got this planned for when I get back onto the mainland. http://4g64.150m.com/faq.html found here... http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166806&highlight=4g64+swap It's been done, not just on a Spyder, but GS-Ts and GSXs. 4g64 2.4L + 4g63 2.0L = lots of breath up top on large turbos +. ...but that also means that you will have the same issues concerning swapping this motor into an RS/GS. OP, glad to hear that you fixed your issue too
