Mitsubishi Outlander reliability - how does it compare?

In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"? I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.

I'd like to be able to provide reliability information on the Outlander, but haven't started collecting data on any model year yet because too few owners are signed up to participate.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

www.edmunds.com does the same type of thing. Im sure you could get a good amount of relevant info from thier site.

I think you're referring to their user reviews. This is different. Members fill out a survey the month after their car requires a repair, and provide an odometer reading at the end of every quarter. This lets me update "times in the shop" stats four times a year.

I've been posting results for the RAV4 and CR-V for months now. Would like to be able to compare the Outlander.

I just signed up and completed the first surveys - this is fairly simple but looks to provide some pretty good info.  Takes all of five minutes to sign up and complete the surveys.

Note that the Outlander is still not included in the site's main reliability survey. Unlike the others, the reliability survey requires a minimum sample. Not there yet with the Outlander.

Results for nearly 100 other models in August. I'd like to include the Outlander in future sets, but this will depend on how soon owners sign up to help out.
