there is an eclipse that is targa topped, if you got it off of ****s.com then it's real.  I love the way it looks

Too bad i bet the car would have lost a lot of structural integrity

Dusty Eclipse -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/26/2007 6:50:49 PM)

See... Ive wanted to do this to my Talon for years... Ive seen that same photo, and its real. As per Sebs thing, yes it prolly did. as hes put reinforcement bars across the roof. But I dont get why... When the convertible version of the eclipse lowers its top it would have the same problem no?

Sebba -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/26/2007 6:58:14 PM)

No the actual frame of the Spyder is different.

davidmitsusrock -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/27/2007 12:33:21 AM)

mmm not my style.

Sebba -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/27/2007 12:34:13 AM)

Defenatly my style... its a shame mitsu never designed one themselves

TheEngineer -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/27/2007 8:05:01 AM)

that definetly is real. I remember reading a whole article on it from the guy. He did alot of structural work so that it wont start destroying the chasis. So it still is pretty strong. But he spent alot of time and money on doing that right

Dusty Eclipse -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/27/2007 8:49:55 AM)

Seb (or TE), what is it in the frame that supports it differently? Some kind of crossmember? I mean, how much diff. can the frame possibly be?

TheEngineer -> RE: Targa Top Eclipse (4/27/2007 9:34:30 AM)

They use brackets and stronger frame. Thats why they weigh so much more than a hard top. The hardtop of a normal car plays a huge role in the stiffness of the frame, cut that out and you are gonna have major problems. So there is a pretty considerable difference between the two.
