That's a tough one because every motor is different, but it's usually a 50/50 chance.
There are different combinations of fuel setups that will require or won't require an AFPR with "larger" injectors.
190lph + 550cc= you can get away without an AFPR
255lph + 550cc= this is where the 50/50 chance is usually found
190lph + 650cc+=You'll need it to keep from hitting fuel cut......AFPR needed
255lph + 650cc+=You're most likely hitting fuel cut at 17psi, lol. ...AFPR needed
In any case, I will always recommend an AFPR when the pump and injectors have been upgraded.  Why?  Because, that's a lot of fuel flow to the rail and injectors.  The stock FPR is the bottleneck (there's more to it than that, this is the bottom line version).  Once you upgrade the FPR, look at the hole on the rail adapter and the FPR hole.  They are tiny compared to an Aeromotive.  The entire housing of the stock FPR is tiny compared to just the cavity that the fuel sits in on an aftermarket FPR.  I have a friend (who I refer to a lot) with a DSM and he's got an EVO9 fuel pump with 660cc injectors (I think or 650cc) and a stock FPR.  He's still on the stock FPR and he won't listen to me, lol.

IMO, don't get injectors and install them, without the rest of the fuel setup.  That's how you half ass a mod build.  If you just want to get them anyway, just put them on a shelf until you beef up the rest of the fuel system.  It won't take you long to get a pump and AFPR kit.  Don't rush your mods.

Besides that, if you're still on the stock turbo, 16psi is about all that you can do or you'll just be blowing out very hot air and just cause more knock.  Follow the recommended mod list, don't jump ahead until you have support to do so.

Try getting a 255 (not high pressure) fuel pump
