No. 1 is the closest to what we do.  I work at a Mitsu dealer.  If it is a 2.4L than replace the balancer belt too.  We usualy replay the tensionor and water pump at the second timing belt job(around 120K).

A budy of mine has a 2001 Galant and he did just the belt and two weeks later all hell broke loose and messed up ll his exhaust valves. It is a pain to replace all that being so close to the frame and body so if you going to replace all that might aswell do it right and do it all. Get timing belt kit, it will have everything like tensioners and pulleys 70 to 80 bucks, also get the accssesory belt, it's like 10 bucks and the water pump like 80. $180 in parts is alot cheaper then $1200 my budy paid to replace the exhaust valves. Dont cut corners, just my 2 cents dude. Im getting ready to do that to mine. Im on my second engine

Hi friends,
i have my Galant V6  60K service. a Good auto repair guy in Edison,NJ gave me this quote. Is this reasonable? when i asked him 'does n't timer belt cost about $60?'
He said 'timer belt package'  etc ...
                               part          labor            total
Spark Plug      28.27   201.60   229.87
Ignition cable  76.80    60.00   136.80
Timer Belt     171.03   252.00   423.03
coolant                           100.00
Cabin Air Filter                  90.00
Air Filter                        25.00

Pepboys gave me $160 for spark plugs  & installation.  Can I use Bosch  4+ paltinum  spark plugs ? Are should I go with  Mitsubishi recommended ?
