I am Thinking about doing some turbo work for a friend of mine however I'm not really familar with the best turbo to use. It is a 97 Eclispse 4cyl N/A. The only problem is I've been looking at some of the turbo kits out there and haven't been able to find anything out there for a n/a engine. I'm not sure but I beleive that the n/a and turbo engines would use the same turbo manifold. I understand the fueling req. are a lot easier to get around than on my 1.8T GTI, fueling can be done by using a Apexi AFC, Turbo XS Dual Stage MBC and 440cc injectors.

My Major questions are
1. Which turbo is most popular in acheiving 250-300WHP ( I don't want him faster than me LOL)
2. Is there a difference between oem turbo and n/a 4cyl. blocks.

Thanks for all your help!!!

The 2 engines are NOTHING alike. You want turbo kits for a 420a engine. The turbo engine is the 4G63T.

Those Hahn Kits are great, but if you want a custom kit, go with the tried and true Mitsu turbos. Either a Big16g or Evo16g would be about what you're looking for. Don't underestimate the 420a though, they can take a beating.

They can take a beating as long as boost has nothing to do with the beating. I have seen tons of 420a motors blow out rings from boosting them.

Those kits are missing one important thing, its called a missing link. The stock 420a ECU freaks out when it sees boost so you need a solution to make it understands what its reading and to the proper corrections, thats waht the missing link dose.
