I have rebuilt the engine, all went well. But I have what I beleve to be valve tappimg. It makes no noise at idle, but when you give it some gas it makes a tapping noise. Ive took off and put the timing belt on at least 5 or 6 times. Is there a trick to it? Ive followed the steps in my chilton book step by step.... Any help would be great help.

You could try new lifters. But the 4g63t (in my experience) always has lifter tick regardless. Its almost like trying to get a relay to stop ticking... complicated and pointless.

You can also put a special additive in the oil (harmless) and in about 2-300 miles they stop ticking... well some peoples didnt stop... but mine did

its about 1 GBP per liter. 5 liters in a gallon = 5 GBP per galon... the conversion is like 1.8 so that means its almost 10 bucks a gallon. So next time you think about bitching about gas....... think about it lol They get paid a lot less than u guys anyway.. and living in general is more expensive
