I bought the hitch from Burnaby Hitch and the wiring harness from Lordco.

If anyone is interested, I got and installed the Mitsubishi Wiring trailer harness last night.  I updated my Hitch install post on page 4 of this thread with details.

Just curious - how hard would it be for me to find original OEM trail hitch & harness in the US...? And, will I be able to get it shipped overseas?
Also - what prices are we talikng for the original parts?

Cheers,

-Morten

I just put my "hidden hitch" from etrailer.com and put it on today in my driveway in less than 30 mins. I also didnt drop the exhaust which is a pain in the @$$ and not needed. If you slide it in over your exhaust and use a flexable ratchet wrench its a piece of cake. I saved myself time from removing the muffler and putting it back on. I also put lock tight on all the bolts to make sure none ever fall out. I will take pictures of it tomorrow since it was getting dark when I finished.

I see that people have commented on what the OEM hitch looks like. Where did you see it? Are there any photos of the hitch?

Thanks,
Paul

Well, I got the dealer to install the harness, as I didn't want to screw anything up. Now I notice that my signal lights are twice as fast as they were! I read of similar problems in the thread above, and am wondering if it is possible that the tech installed something wrong? From the directions that came with it, it would seem hard to screw up! Suggestions?

Also, I am going to install a brake control unit and 7 prong plug, has anyone done this yet, and if so, what kind did you use?

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks Antlip, I looked up the hitch as suggested and ended up going for the original offer (as an incentive to purchase, the GM of the dealership offered me a $250 discount on the shop price of a OEM hitch and harnness with installation.)

I was tempted to try it myself, but do not have adequate space, tools or time.

Now, I am wishing I had found a way to do it myself! Money spent, but no peace of mind...

The fact that the signals are so quick now (almost twice as fast) suggests to me that something is wrong.

I lifted the plastic tray on the interior wheel housing and looked behind the tire jack to see if I could spot any obvious error in the intallation. Nothing appears wrong, and the ground wire was properly attached to the body. I did note that the shop skimped on the instructions, and didn't wrap the connectors with the supplied foam pad, but this wouldn't be the problem as the connectors are not touching any wires or the body.

So, it appears the shop followed the correct procedure, at least in this area. Not sure where to look next, or if I should just bring it back to the Mitsu shop and ask them to solve it. They may simply tell me it's not a problem!

Cheers,
Paul

The lights blinking fast I beleive could be a bad ground or a bulb dieing. The wire harness is straight forward and just clips in. You screw the power to the battery plug in 3 plugs and screw on the ground. Make sure all the connectinos are good and tight and the ground is in the proper spot. It is number 8. You can find this spot on the top of the pass side wheel well. If you do a search I have all the pages copied and a few real pictuers of when I put mine in. You can send me a PM if you have any more questions.
