I'm looking to install an aftermarket cd player in my 98 Eclipse GS but was not sure about what to do about the factory amp.  Is there a special way to wire the car including the amp with it?  I've installed a cd player in two other cars but they never had the factory amp.  I went to circuit city and they told me they'd need to re-wire it (because of the amp) for 71 bucks then 50 more for installation accessories or whatever.  Is it really that much work?

haha, not that much work. i work at best buy, and we do factory amp bypasses for $49.00. when you say you have a factory amp, i'm assuming that you have the infinity sound system. if this is the case, you can first try to get a wiring harness and simply hook up the factory amp to the aftermarket deck's remote turn on. if that doesn't work, you can bypass the amp by splicing together the amp in and out harnesses.
