RE: backfiring issue - 6/4/2007 10:47:51 PM    randy   Posts: 16 Joined: 4/28/2007 Status: offline i checked the pipes and there is no rust.. Where could the leak be and how would i find it? i am losing a good amount of power when it does this its like its bogging out but only between 4500 and about 6k and then it runs fine. Also i noticed that it doesnt do it so much when its cold outside becuase during the day it will do it most of the time but at night when it cools off it runs fine and will only do it sometimes. Im going to change the plugs and wires tomarrow to see if that helps.. (in reply to Dusty Eclipse) Post #: 11

If you wish to do it yourself, you can make a boost leak tester. RE: backfiring issue - 6/5/2007 11:14:23 AM    randy   Posts: 16 Joined: 4/28/2007 Status: offline oh ok i thought it was more serious than that. but  theres no smoke except a little bit before the car warms up but after that theres no smoke. could it be a dirty air flow sensor thats what a mechanic friend said to check. They are connected to pipes so that the pressure they create is transfered back into the engine... what im saying is... in this guys case there is a leak on the pressure lines some place.
