hey guys, i've been looking at a few clutches this morning and think i have found the one i like but want to know if yall know anything that i don't.     I know ACT is a good company so i'm looking at the Xtreme Duty Clutch ( http://www.lancershop.com/customer/product.php?productid=764&cat=6&page=1 ) it will hold every bit of power i plan on working up to and won't break the bank.     Also at the same time plannin on goin w/ the ACT 10lb lightweight flywheel.   Let me know if you have heard good and/or bad things about this clutch.  Thanks.

The heavier the ACT clutch the worse for your car they get.   In my short research on clutches I read that teh ACT clutch series still causes tranny lockout like the stck clutch and it alot harder on the T case and rear end because they are so stiff and have not much play at all.  That is the reason why I maned up and paied the big money too do it right the first time.

In my mind its more worth it to pay a little more for the clutch than to pay $3k for a new tcase.  Plus I planned to pull my RPMs to 7800-8000 and alot clutchs lock you out so you cant get into the next gear when your around 8000 revs.

CT Xtreme Duty Clutch Kit with Street Disc holds (636ft/lbs) of power. Included with this kit is clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and clutch alignment tool. This clutch is for the serious racers only!

This statment says alot

is there anything under a grand for a clutch (used to my dsm's and honda's so paying anything over 550 is just rediculous in my mind but i guess i just gotta get used to it lol).    i'm only plannin on runnnin between 500 and 600 to the wheels so nothing to extraordinary (for an evo that is), so i don't need some Drag - quad disk - super man pressure plated 2300 dollar clutch lol.  anything nice under 1500 i can get that will LAST (that's what i'm looking for mainly, something i won't have to rplace after 2 years...)

i think what emonz is saying it right. Its better to pay the extra now and not have to worry about it. And 500-600 is alot of AWHP. thats more than what mike will have when he is done. Id say the clutch that he bought would be able to handle that. Basically exedy is the clutch you want to go with. Im not sure what he paid for his though

they start at about 1300 and go up from there.    the 500-600 won't be realized for prolly 2 years or so b/c that's a lot of money but i do want something able to suport about 400 to start out with that way i know i'll be covered and it shouldn't be more than 800 or 900

Most people have them for a long long time.   Most people get hundreds of track runs and 2 step launches out of them.

I paid $1500 for mine shipped with a TO bearing
