My bad, the 4g93 is 1.8 liters....

Either way, i don't think he should bother with a 4g63 swap.  The 4g93 is much easier to swap in than the 4g63 for the 5g mirage(from what i've read on that link provided).  Well, atleast now i know the mirage can take an EVO IV and up 4g63.  Hey, why not use the 4g64 then???  From a 3g eclipse????  They're cheap and very abundant!!!  And with 2.4l, you can't go wrong!!!

yeah.  that would be cheaper and plenty of power.   all the 2.0 4G63 turbo stuff fits on it. just use the stock turbo/manifold/injectors etc etc. and have a turbo 2.4!!      thats what I would LOVE to do. but no $$.

SpyderGS:  Regarding the 1992 Expo that's died 3 times.  She's been resurrected again.  The mechanic found the same wires had vibrated loose again, but from another point.  He reattached the wires, and the car started running.  He decided it was the broken motor points that caused too much shifting of the motor, which pulled the wires loose.  New motor mounts were installed yesterday, the mechanic marked the location of the motor and is driving it today to see if it shifts again.  Have to give the guy an A for effort!  Joy

Glad to hear the good news Joy.  If that solves the problem, then my all means keep the car.  You're mechanic is sounding better and better each day.  Hopefully this will be the end of you're worries.  Well, atleast about cars....and excluding gas prices too.

Monkey, i'm currently doing the turbo conversion on my 2g spyder...it has a dsm oreinted 4g64 so i can use dsm turbo stuff.  I've already done a 1g head swap and have most parts for the turbo conversion.  Well atleast the easy stuff to get.  I still need a turbo and am deciding on whether to get a mitsu or garret.  When the turbo conversion is complete, i gotta save up again to maybe do an awd conversion.  Get all that power to the ground, ya know.  And maybe get some more cash back when i go to sell it.  I could sell it as a collectors car or something.  But i'm poor....and i don't get tax breaks for having too much money.

SpyderGS:   I'm driving the Expo today.  The vibrations are still there, but at least she's running again.  Another mechanic is going to look at it---a sort of second opinion---just to make me feel better.  And let's don't even discuss gas prices.........

Hi, I have had a 1997 eclipse gst for about a year and a half now and know a fair bite about engine and transmissions from growing up working on austin mini's. I was wondering I have torn out my transmission and need to replace it. My engine only has 75000 miles on it and is in good shape but I was wondering what other cars I could possible get an engine and transmission from just to swap out. I have been told that I can use a 1g eclipse motor, but what is the difference and is it true they don't have a problem with crankwalk? Also are there any other mitsubishi models I can get the engine and tranny from. I would really appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks for your help.

Well, it's relatively easy....if you know what you're doing.  I'm making a new post about this in Internal Lounge to help the forum grow a little bit.  I'll just explain the basics and answer your question, check it out.
