OK, I have a couple of questions for the expert(s).

A lttle background first. I have a 92 Expo LRV AWD that I really love. It has the 1.8 liter 4G93 SOHC 16 valve.

I'm looking at pumping up the engine output a bit. So far I've put a 10k potentiometer inline with the IAT to send a signal to the ECU as if the air temperature is as low as 50 degrees below zero to richen the air fuel ratio a touch so that I can run more timing advance without it pinging. So far seems like dialing in enough resistance to be equivalent to an abient air temp of about ten below works about the best. I've also ordered an oiled-gauze type air filter and a MAF adapter for it. I'll most likely do the standard MAF mods to remove the lower honeycomb and back out the plug to let some more air through while I'm at it - if that's a good idea for non-turbos. Probably replace the rubber accordion-style intake hose with some PVC or exhaust tubing to smooth out the airflow and let it breathe even better.

Anyway, that's what I've done so far, and here's what I'd like to do.

1) Upgrade to a larger throttle body. My first question is will the MAF off of a 2.4 liter 4G64 SOHC 16 valve (used in 92+ Expos and Galants) work? It looks like it would be a direct bolt-on, though I know I will need to bore out the mounting plate of my intake to get the most out of it, but that's no big deal. If it indeed will bolt in would I need to use my original MAF, or would I need the one that came off the donor vehicle?

2) Install an adjustable cam gear. Will one of the ones from the Eclipse, or one of the other Mitsubishi SOHC engines work on the 1.8 liter 4G93 SOHC 16 valve engine? If so, anybody know which engine?

Looking forward to hearing from any/all of you who have the knowledge/expertise/experience to answer any or all of the above questions.

Thanks in advance.

Hello
I own a 1995 Eclipse RS with 160,000 mi on it.

I have 2 questions:
First,
My air conditioner is acting up. It will run for maybe 5-10 minutes at a time blowing out cold air, and then the compressor will just shut off and I get a face full of humid outside air. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes for it to start blowing out cold air again. It did it once in awhile when I first bought the car used, but now it seems to not work more often. It seems to shut off a lot more often when it is hotter outside (but that might be a psychological thing since that's when I'm really desperate for the A/C); on cool mornings it will often function the whole 30 minute drive home from work.
I tried putting a can of refrigerant in it as well as a can of the red dyed stop leak. I didn't see any red gas coming out anywhere so I assume I don't have a leak. Any ideas?

Second,
Sometimes shifting into first is really hard. It usually only does it on mornings when I first take off, then after I shift into 1st a few times it does fine. The other day when I was driving hard it did it again. It kind of felt like I was pushing my gearshift thru caramel and there was no satisfying 'notch' or whatever when I knew I was in gear. It just felt all mushy. Again after shifting around for awhile it stopped acting up and shifted normally. Any ideas what could cause this?

******EDIT**** My displayed voltage fluctuations were due to a bad cigarette lighter connection haha.

Thanks for the help!!!!
