ORIGINAL: Sebba Open it up.. and take a sniff. Also look for any burns or signs of shorting out... or anything odd. Especially around the black battery looking things (capacitors) yeah just for the hell of it we thought we'd try and use an obd2 scanner, it has a code it says p0340 and then says P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor A- Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction 1 OF 1 what should i test in this case is it just the position sensor that i need to replace or is there more to it than that? mainly i dont understand how it could be my PCM because of the location, because i know that the rag caused the problem.i just dont see how it could have messed up the PCM....

ORIGINAL: Sebba Just the position sensor then. Well sometimes the PCM's capasitors leak for no reason. Thats the rotten egg smell. Is there any smell coming from it? Well if it says thats the problem then change it out. ok, where is the posistion sensor located at i know where the crankshaft sensor is but i have no idea about the cam sensor... or are they the same thing?

The cam sensor is located behind the intake cam gear (the one closest to the firewall). Just like Sebba stated, it looks like a hocky puck tucked in there. There's a good chance that the towel yanked it over or just screwed it up. You'll have to remove the timing belt and the cam gear to get to the cam sensor. You'll have to remove the belt so you'll have to redo the timing too. While you're at it, kick your boy in the junk for causing this headache It's fun having a DSM isn't it
