Hi, I'm fairly new to fixing up cars in general so keep your responses fairly simple please, thx! Started car in the morning reversed, braked and car stalls, battery light is on. Restarted car and continued driving, ABS light comes on, then off RPM and speed indicators die although car is still driving, instruments alternate on and off veryslowly, although mostly off. RPM guage also moves around like a compass. Radio dies, try to reverse and car dies/stalls. Un restartable. In a possibly related incident, the previous day the batter light came on while driving. Car engine then died. I checked the fuses and a fuse had been blown. This was then replaced. I had checked the fuses on the 2nd event. Is something overloading my electrical system and/or is the previous event related? Much help appreciated, car currently dead in someone s driveway =(

It could be your ecu, is it the one with the bad caps? Is it an Eprom? Alternatively it may be something as bizarre as the ABS controller, thats waht went on my V70. Caused the same things, and then again the alternator could just be done....

That would be a symptom of a failing or failed charging system. Check your alternator output, check the fusible links. While running, voltage at the battery should be 13.5 -14+ volts. If it's below that, your alternator is shot (reiterating you Dusty ).
