Hi, my friend Chad Ditsworth recently bought a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII from Tennesee. Niether of us know anything about this car. I work mainly on Fords. We had it shipped to Des Moines, Iowa and then drove there to get it and drove home. Well, no one told us about the SMC alcohol kit that it had. We drove the car about 130 miles home. He was getting on the car quite a bit. Then today we were getting on the car quite heavily. Well, we got home and heard a knocking noise. We called Buchsur(aftermarket parts came from there) and asked what would happen. They said the car shouldn't have been driven at all without any composition of Alcohol and  water and that the motor could just melt. This car was repo'd in Texas. We're going to try to get ahold of the guy that originally owned the car and see what kind of modifications it has. This car is rated at about 400HP well it now has over 500. So theres a lot of stuff done. It has a turbo kit with intercooler. We added alcohol and water into the SMC system and it still knocked. Does anyone know what the problem is. If so please respond, so we can get this problem resolved.

Simply turn the boost down. Or put better gas in it

and the knocking noise isn't damage. the local mechanic said that it might just be valves and rockers making normal noise

The Evos dont knock or tick.   My car runs without a peep.   Could have spun a bearing that will happen if you run out of alky or meth in about 2 seconds

well idk the mechanic that we went to knew about as much as i did about mitsubishi's. he just said that the car could be acting funny because of the previous owners settings with the alky. were running Denatured 50/50. and he could have used something else like race alcohol.
