Arghhh - My daughters 2001 2.4 L stalls randomly. Idle was really low, but even on the highway, the car will suddenly loose all power, stall, then restart.

Checked Battery -
Checked alternator -
Changed Plugs-

Car still stalled on me on the highway Now it appears to run great (temporarily).

Note- She just put gas in it, but it was from our usual gas station, so I put gas treatment in also to see if it improves.

Taking AC On/Off will effect the idle to the point of stall sometimes, but the high speed stall is why I am asking as most complaints are not about that.

Any Help would be appreciated as she is moving out Saturday to her apartment, and that can not be delayed as she is driving me crazy.

New - Just tried starting it, it runs for 3 seconds - shuts off, starts totally fine - No rough start, clean, but shuts down immediatly. Tried it 20 times - no luck. Engine is cold.

YIKES - Help

sounds like maybe an air leak. Is there anything aftermarket on the car. Check the connection also at the Mass air sensor. Or maybe just try and raise the idle with the adjustment screw. I think the 2.4L had those. Its on the throttle body. I dont remeber where though.

Thanks but no after  market parts. I just tried it and it started great (did not drive it) so I am massively confused. The highway stalling is stumping me, as I dont think the idle would effect it at 65 MPH and 2500 - 3000 rpm.

Sounds to me like a ground problem. Perhaps a battery terminal?

Yeah, that sounds like a bad ground connection to me... I had a ground cable the pretty much rusted in half and so I replaced the cable and the battery.

I will check that when I get Home today. I leaning to a Vacume leak somewhere, but that will be a Bitch to find. Dont want it to go in the shop as they will just shotgun like I am but charge me for their lack of ability and skill.

A vac leak would have been more constant. This is on and off... for that reason i say its electrical
