The 4G64 engine your looking at is still turned from the 8G 4G64. You can not use Spyder parts for your Galant.

I can use spyder parts because they came out with a 2.4l spyder in 1996. All 2.4l 4g64 and 2.0l 4g63 are interchangable except the pistons. several people have said this in the forum i did a research on it Friday.

Up to you bro but I will put it to you like this.... You can not use a turbo set up for a spyder 4G64 because the engine is mounted 180 degress from the the 8G Galant and the 3G Eclipse 4G64. Internally there maybe a few parts you can use but you can not take a head from a Spyder 2.4L 4G64 and place it on a 8G Galant 4G64 because the intake side is on the opposite side of the engine....

You can take a Spyder 4G64 block and mate it with a 4G63t head and make one hell of an engine but you can not mate a 8G Galant 4G64 block to a 4G63t head because the 8G Galant is still 180 from the 4G63t head. If this coule be done then you will see alot of 8G (1999-2003) Galant owners turbo charged with smiles on there faces and the same for the 3G Eclipse (2000-2005).

Here maybe this will help since pictures speak a thousand times more then words....

A Spyder 4G64 engine...

A 8G Galant 4G64 engine....

Now do you notice the difference? Everything from the intake to coolant to the timing belt is on the opposite side. Internally you maybe able to use a Spyder 4G64 but not a whole lot. Maybe valve springs.....

I found this in one the forums on this site.

Whoa whoa whoa, i can't believe i missed this one. I am a firm believer in the power potential of any 2g spyder gs. They can handle as much power as any 4g63 with just some forged pistons and *maybe* a head swap. The 420a comes in 2 flavors, the 2.0liter and the 2.4liter. The 4g6 block also comes in a 2.0liter and a a 2.4liter. The 2.0liter is the 4g63, the 2.4 is called the 4g64. Now, the 420a in any TEL was always the 1998cc DOHC version. The 4g63 of course came in the turbo TEL cars. However, the 4g64 was only offered in the 96-99 Spyder GS(we're talking original DSM, TEL). Turbocharging a spyder gs is as simple as gathering oem 1st gen or 2nd gen turbo components and slapping it on. Every 4g63 component(except pistons) can fit on the 4g64, even the ecu's are interchangeable.
