Ok i have a 99 eclipse spyder rs. I bought the car with a warrenty called engine for life. basically what it says is that i cant alter anything that will affect the engine and in so, engine dies, i get it fixed for free. Well i know most exhaust systems are bolt on correct? or some are. If thats the case, can i get away with it and if the car gives me problems, just put the old one back on? also... i dont want a loud exhaust, something calm and subtle but when i hit the gas, u know its after market. any ideas on a brand?

If you change anything on your car they're probably gonna know. Anyway, you say you want something calm and subtle but obvious when you gas it. If thats the case then leave you resinator alone. Some people remove it and go straight pipe, but if you do that youre asking for cops, and Ive already gotten too many tickets...but thats just me. Any way, you can go 2.5" from the resinator back and get something like a round magnaflow muffler. That's what I did anyway and its sound like what youre looking for. Sublte but mean when you gas it.

if you change your exaust, i think they propably don't know if you change it back before the checkout, since it is just bolted on.
as long as you don't make any welding or stuff like that.

This all depends on how much they want to screw you out of the warranty. You can tell when an exhaust has been swapped out; lack of corrosion and whatnot around the bolts. Honestly, if you wanted to keep your resonator and just replace the muffler like binx420 suggested I would just call the place you got the car and ask if it's alright to replace the muffler. They might even say yes and then you do'nt have to worry about it.

GET IT IN WRITING, before you replace anything get it in writing that its ok to do it, i put a intake on my spyder, two months later the water pump went out and cause me to warp the head.........3 grand that would have been covered under warrenty if i had only gotten it in writing............

A great exhaust is TSUDO i had one for my accord and it was nice and subtle unless you punched the gas which is better then that constant buzzing noise, its very low pitched i have read about other on this forum and they say the samething about the eclipse ones...
