I have looked up the weight of different years of VR4's. They say 1991-1993s are 3803 pounds and the 1994-1996 weigh a little bit lesser and the 1997 and up are 3737 pounds.

I was thinking since the (i think)96 -99 VR4's had chrome wheels might be heavy. So is the 3000gt VR4 weight calculated with its tires and wheels right?  Does anyone know what specifically  makes the older VR4's heavier than the 97-99?

I think lighter plastics in the bodywork etc...

The wheels and tires i dont think will sway the bar that much.

Bottom line.. if you want the biggest weight difference... get on a treadmill lol

if i  got a  97-99 VR4 that weighs 3,737 pounds while i take off the 18 chrome rims and change to light seats etc. it would be lighter right.

If you change to lighter seats... yes the car is going to be lighter

I dont see why you are so concerned about weight. If you care that much.... buy a 1g GSX and gut the interior. Your driving a tank... you cant shed weight from it.

Dont bother with seats man... waste of cash.

You can save a fair amount of weight by going with lightweight seats, I think I've read the drivers seat weighs around 65lbs.  The wheels on the later models are 18's, I doubt they were lighter.  The later gens didn't have the active aero.  They may not have had the active exhaust either.  That is probably why there is a 60lb difference.

honestly i dont think the weight matters. a vr4 is still a fast car with 3800lbs. which i've definitely seen lighter weights on other sites.

I don't think you will notice a difference. Once I heard that on average for every 100lbs you loose you gain a tenth of a second on the quarter mile.

If you looking to buy the Stealth is also a great car weighing between 3,000-3,200 lbs.

Not the TT models.  They are just as heavy as the VR4's.

They had fewer and fewer gimmicky accessories as the years went on.  They lost active exhaust and active suspension in 95, but gained a power sunroof instead of the removable glass.  in 1997 they lost the active aero, and then the weight varies by options (sunroof, etc).

you want a light weight twin turbo?  buy a 96 stealth TT.  No options, not even power antenna.
