Well I've decided that since I'll be changing my timing belt pretty soon I might as well change the pullies and camgears to performance parts since I'm going to be playing around in there anyways. I had a question though, Im gonna be getting AEM cam gears with an unorthodox ss underdrive pulley set. Does anyone have this setup and do you actually notice the diffrence in horsepower and performance? They say you can gain up to 20 hp from the pulley set....hope so cuz it's costing me somewhere around 400 for it. One last thing, what kind of color scheme do you guys perfer? My gs-t spyder is a Burgandy color so i decided to either stick with red or polish for further upgrades and engine dressup, what do ya think? Thanks.

sorry pulleys arent going to give you 20hp they always overquote those. they dont make much of a difference at all but theyre good to have if you're trying to squeeze out every bit of hp you can get.

Hmm, 20 HP from pulleys? That is pushing it. It doesn't matter which color your cam gears are because the cover is on them right? Please don't leave the cover off, that's just asking for it.

i believe you can get the 20hp from the pulleys but when you have them in combination with that performance camshafts.

Not a chance. Dyno wasonly 10 hp and that was on a 470hp v8. It's basically a percentage gain so figure 5-10% depending on oyur mod level and the % reduction in diameter.

I don't think you're gonna get 20 out of an eclipse but I have seen dynos with 10-15hp with a full set of underdrives (crank, waterpump, and alternator) on a stock 5.0.
