The oil pan is different on the 6 bolt. The conversion it self is very easily done.

Seriously, built motor and tranny will run you about 5k... and if you pick up like a GSX shell... thats a bad ass car for hardly anything.

Seriously? 5k for fully built motor AND tranny? Another reason I need to get away from the v8s and such. A fully built 350 can run anywhere from 2k to 8k. Thats not including the transmission. My biggest problem would be finding the GSX shell. Well, that and when I found it and paid for the motor/transmission, I'd have no daily. I'd love to follow you're advice and get a GSX shell with a race motor + transmission. If I can find a GSX at all, I'm grabbing it up. Thats what I want more than anything. I actually had a guy wanting to trade one for my Blazer. Even up. My mom said no. She didn't give a reason, just no. Plus, the guy was like 1000 miles away. I mean, really, you can't get much more awesome than AWD + turbo.

The GTS motor is the same engine code as the GT but it you turbo or SDS the car the GTS will blow up.  The pistons are weak to FI because of the compression ratio.  The GT is slightly better.  The GTS can hold at like 6 psi at MOST the GT can take 8-9 PSI.  All either car needs it pistons to run 10-15 or maybe even 20PSI though.

Every time I read about something blowing up, I imagine a huge, fiery, fantastically awesome explosion and a ka-boom. Then, I lol. So you just made my day. I see now though. Thanks. I just figured it was a waste of money for a GTS since I know they would cost more and they only make like 10 more hp. You can buy an intake off ebay and make that for $50. I really do appreciate all the extra info. It's helping me out a lot. What about insurance? I know its going to be based on where I live, the options on the car, the engine, and a bunch of other stuff, but I know there has to be someone on here with both an eclipse and a truck of some kind. What is the eclipse insurance as compared to a truck? The insurance will be a big factor for me since I'll have to pay it. I'm not worried too much about fuel consumption since I only get like 15 mpg in my blazer. Again, really appreciate the info.

I'm 17 but by the time I get an eclipse I'll be 18. I started paying $140/month for my blazer. Now I pay $120 a month. I do NOT have a clean record, but the insurance never went up. I got a ticket for going 90 in a 65 (I thought I was running late), but about a month later my insurance dropped $20. I was amazed, and happy. This is for full coverage. I'm in kentucky with State Farm ins. I've looked at other companies insurance prices off the net (like progressive) but their prices are outrageous. They said I'd pay like 1000/month for my blazer, which is nuts. I don't think state farm has an online pricing thing. But if you're only paying $90 a month for an evo, and thats more insurance than an eclipse, I'm guessing I won't be doing too bad. I actually thing it will go down since I'll be 18. I've got a friend who went from a kia rio to a z28 camaro with t tops around his 18th birthday. He has the same company as me and his insurance went down. Thanks, though. You've put my mind to rest about insurance costing me a fortune. Now all I've got to worry about is car payments.

Dude youll be paying a good amount.  Being under 21.  I have encoumpass for my car and I have full blown coverage.  I bet youll be paying around $130-$150 a month as a rough guess at least.  remember the Eclipse is under 2 door sports catigory.  also your state makes a HUGE difference
I bought my Evo when I was 21 just a few days after my Bday actually I was paying $3700 a year for it in Tampa Florida.  I moved up to Ma a month before my 22nd bday and I was paying only $1500 a year Now I am 23 got my 6 year driver discount and I pay $900 a year

But 150-160 isn't that much more than what I pay now. It's MORE but its not so much more that I'd not buy one because of it. You've given me a good idea about what I'll pay too, so thanks. This thread has gotten a lot of replies. I'm impressed with the members of this forum. On some of the other forums I'm on, if I'd asked a similar question I'd have gotten about 10 replies telling me to search...
