I understand CCC convert outlanders under the watchfull eye of HMRC because they are not built at the factory

I've been driving light commercial vehicles for 10 years and have passed police doing 70 on motorways & dual carriage ways and doing 60 on A roads. You are talking of heavy goods vehicles (ever seen an escort van doing only 40 on an A road? I think not. You will notice police vans also drive at these normal speeds).

In the past these vehicles were under the watchful eye but they are no longer a simple throw out the rear seats application. All mounts including seat belts are welded up at the docks, rear windows are disfunctional with additional welded plates etc, it's not possible without great effort to reclaim the VAT and then convert them back. It would probably cost near enough the same amount in VAT to do it anyway.

ps Tell the wife who is boss and buy the wheels.

The police have too much to do than trying to work out what’s a car and what’s a commercial vehicles but I am frayed theirs a maker on Your V5 which they can fall back on if the speeding ticket is to stick in a court of law.

In addition their also a markers on the V5 so you cannot convert your car to a normal car (TAX PLG vehicles ) unless you pay the outstanding VAT and change the taxation to PLG instead of your commercial vehicle. If you convert it back without paying they VAT they will seize car

The reason I know about the rules is because my Partner has worked in a major government department for over 32 years and I have worked in another government department for 10 years and get asked these questions every day.

The details are all in the V5 and highway code including speed limits for commercial vehicles your dealer should have told you! It’s done because of the high weight and longer stopping distance in vans etc

I see! Well it's just as well for me that nobody realizes that mine is a commercial. And as for payloads and stopping distances they ought make that law vehicle specific cause the gross weight of all outlanders is the same regardless of commercial or not.

A road= Normal single lane road
VAT= Value add tax currently 17.5% tax added to the invoice e.g. £1.00 makes £1.75
PLG= Private Lights Goods vehicle (Normal car)
Dual Carriage way= 2 lane Road

has anyone who had tints installed experienced scratches on the tint on the front passenge windows?
please help, our dealer does not know how to fix this problem.
they are waiting for a response from japan apparently.
