i was back at home today and trying to take my trans apart again and i STILL cant seperate the d@mn bell housing from the casing! this is really pissing me off. i had EVERY single bolt outta the ENTIRE casing and it seperates about 1/4 inch from the bell housing and gets held up on something. somebody told me that its supposed to be in neutral to seperate it, anybody know anything about that? i tried putting it in neutral, which is harder then it seems when the trans is sitting in my shed. but no luck yet. any ideas anyone?

i would try putting it back in nuetral, it may be hard but keep playing with it, it might have something to do with the way gears or something sits in there that holds it up when it is in gear.. stupid quiestion, but did you take off the throw out bearing?

haha yea, rubber mallet would... might work, but it might also mess something up, he could have something important holding the bellhousing up, and wacking it with a mallet could break it

i cant think of anything else that would be holding it up.. did you have the car in nuetral when you took out the tranny?? that very well could be the problem.. it isnt hard to put into nuetral, where the shifting fork it on the transmission, there should be 2 of them.. the one that is parallel with the tanny, make sure that it is in the center.. in other words you should be able to click it one time in both directions.. but keep it in the middle, then try

he doesnt even know. im thinking its just the dowel pins that are holding it up. im gonna try heating up the casing around the pins when i get back home and seein if i can slip it off the pins. if not, i dont even know what else it could be

spray some WD-40 down in there then heat it, it might catch a little fire but it burns off fast and it skyrockets the temperature so you wont have to work as long to heat it.. just be carefull not to crack it when it is hot
