Hey all,
I have noticed a problem recently with my 99 mirage. When the car is cold and until I drive about 30 miles, the transmission gets real loud when the car is stopped in drive. It sounds as if part of the transmission is not disengaging completely. The car does try to lurch forward or feel like the brakes are fighting against the tranny. As soon as I let off the brakes and the tranny starts moving, the noise is gone. I am baffled as by what it is... Any suggestions? The fluid levels were well within operating range.

auto trannys dont have clutches, but it sounds like you need some expensive tranny work. if its drivable just see if it gets any worse and if it does jus take it in before you get stranded, auto trannys are not the easiest to work on

Your right auto's dont have clutches, but they have clutch packs. Many thin disks packed together
