Yes. I would take off the timing belt cover and look to see.

could be, the old belt could help the pulley vibrate out of place

I was told that the rubber on the crank pully after years break apart and doesn't hold. I replaced my crank pully a few months back and it did make a similar sound to your car. The tension on the belts held it together and pulled it back in as it wobbled in and out. But when i reved it up the sound dissappeared and the pully straighten out its wobble. Changed pully and problem fixed. Hopefully its just your pully.

nubiebubie GSX - i think that my car makes a similar sound to the one in this post... but it's is intermittent... I would say that 6 out of 7 times i don't hear any noise... but once in a while i hear a ticking.  If I drive the car a little bit harder, the sound seems to go away.  Or if I shut the car off and simply restart it a few seconds later the sound is gone...  Any ideas?? could it be the cranky pulley (haha) or something else?  In addition - how much did it cost to get your crank pulley replaced??? Thanks Shaun

Well visually u can see if the crank pully is moving in and out. My car started with slight ticking around the driver wheel once in a while. But after a week and a half it became more constant ticking and eventually got to the point where the crank pully slided an inch back and forth, which made a clunking sound. Cost me close to 300 including labour and part. I also thoght it was crankwalk with my 6 bolt but it wasn't. Do as everybody said and double check. Good luck.

ok so i'll have to check out the crank pully i tried to get off the cover but i didn't get the bolt down on the side, so i have to take off my tower bar to get to it to check it out. if it's just 300 bucks then i can do that. i'm off from work tomorrow so i'll have to take a peek at it.

my dad told me if i have to get the engine rebuilt he would help pay for it and i told him it would be better to get the six bolt so i don't have to worry about crankwalk, there's a place near me that can do it for 1600 bucks without labor.

Dude if you have the time to do it yourself, do it. Some random wrench monkey making minimum wage is not going to care how much he tq's your bolts down as much as you would. Plus you will learn something in the process.
