hey everybody.... i need some advice....
i have a 2003 mitsu eclipse GT..... had done some mods but got WASTED one night and wound up in the uhhhhhh pond.... that was january of 06.... car has been sitting due to lack of funds and time (as i am in the Marines) well the time has come to do something about it.... any suggestions? the day after it happened i drained all the fluids and stripped the interior.... removed the forward 3 spark plugs and replaced all fluids.... turned the car over and as expected water shot out of the forward cylinders.... well now its been sitting for a while. what do you guys suggest.... is the engine worth rebuiding or should i just get another one from a salvage yard and replace it.... if i rebuild this one (assuming its worth rebuilding) i want to BUILD it ya know? any ideas would be great help. i'm posting pics later today....

OH yeah..... i can't seem to find the PCM either.... and they don't make a haynes or chiltons guide for my year model... i went to the Mitsu dealership and they can't sell me one either.... any ideas?

Since you didn't get the water out of the other cylinders there will be problems. Those other cylinders are probably rusted solid.  Might as well get ready for a rebuild.

so i started more work today... and found that the tanny seems to be siezed..... it was parked and left in 3rd gear..... good news is no problem getting it out of gear.... bad news is it won't go into any other gear.... guess i got more work cut out for me than i initally thought..... SHOULD I JUST SCRAP THE WHOLE ENGING TRANNY AND ECU....? and if so does anybody know where i can get a replacement fairly cheap..... i prefer to rebuild as this engine only has 45K on it and is hardly even broken in good....

You might be better off scraping the entire car.  There is no telling how much rust you have and buy the time you spend all the money on replacing the engine and transmission you could probably get you a new gt.  It's just something to think about.

i agree, scrap it.. it sounds like you are going to need to rebuild or replace the engine and transmission, it is not worth the money

How deep was your car in the water, cause you might just scrap it due to the increased risk of rust.  Seeing how a rusty under carage or suspension will severly limit your mobility even with a freshly swaped 3.5. lol.

Valid point. If you really want to do the 6g74 swap youll need a donor Diamante. I was going to do the swap for a while but scrapped the idea when it became a pain in the ass, and when I got a free 6g72... lol. Theres a decent amount of info about it in another forum, If you want I can get it just PM me for it... Admin frowns upon naming outright other forums...

yeah i thought about scrapping the whole car.... but since i still owe money on it (9k) i sorta can't do that..... long story that i don't really want to get into right now. but i know scrapping it would be the right idea.... if i could.... right now i'm out a car and need to either get this one fixed or rid of...payment is too high to get another car.... and i can't use it for a trade as i would be WAY OVER MY HEAD
don't really know what to do right now..... at a loss for words...... oke silla dokey o' I"M AN IDIOT
